THE EVOLUTION 

OF TECHNOLOGY

The aim of these lesson plans is to explore inventions and analyze how they have changed through the years.

SESSION 1

Describe the evolution of technological objects using a variety of adjectives to describe their features, and compare past and present with comparative sentences.

SESSION 2

Analyze the importance of describing the necessities in order to create useful objects that help us in our daily activities.

SESSION 3

Learn about some of the most influential inventors in the 20th century.

PROPERTIES OF

MATERIALS

The aim of these lessons is to learn about materials and their properties, practice the reading comprehension, describe the basic materials and write correctly some specific words related to all this technical content. 

SESSION 1

Introduce basic content and vocabulary related to the properties of materials.

SESSION 2

Learn to write sentences for describing objects or materials using conditional structures and specific vocabulary.

SESSION 3

Reading comprehension related to materials and teacher-student assessment and self-assessment.

Activity 3(a): Students are going to play a game about comparatives. First, they are reminded how to build a comparative sentence, and then are given examples and instructions for the game.

Activity 3(b): Students are taught to play a game about making comparative sentences. They write sentences comparing inventions, write them down on a piece of paper and cut out each word for their classmates to rebuild the sentence correctly.

Activity 4: Students play a game as a recap of the adjectives revised during the teaching unit. They take turns to write adjectives on the whiteboard.

Activity 3: Students are instructed how to play a bingo game using the adjectives and their definitions revised during the unit (properties of materials).
